Art & Fashion since 1920

Almost every fashion season the designers/big fashion names try to impress us not only with amazing collections, but also with the latest collaborations with some incredible artists. In the past few years the runways have been filled with some print designs with art by the likes of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Mondrian, Picasso, Murakami and many others…

It all sounds so innovative and modern and I was curious to know when it all started.

My research took me back to the 20s when two amazing women, Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel, gifted women with freedom, liberating them from the corset and giving them an opportunity to choose what to wear and how to wear from lingerie to the length of the dress, from trousers to the haircut. And even though Coco Chanel was the first designer to give her line a scent with Chanel n5, Elsa Schiaparelli went further, working with artist like Salvador Dali and Jean Cocteau. Despite the fact the two where big rivals, Chanel never managed to have the same as Schiaparelli.
